Taipei, Taiwan — 25 March 2022 — CyCraft Technology, a world-leading cybersecurity firm based in Taiwan, expands to Europe on the heels of rapid growth. CyCraft has partnered with Emplos, an IT security firm based in Vilnius, Lithuania. Emplos will provide customers with Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services via CyCraft’s Continuous Digital Forensic Technology.
Lithuania has been on the fast track to strengthening cyber resilience across all sectors. In 2020, multiple content management systems were targeted by an orchestrated cyberattack; the attackers were able to publish news articles of misinformation across multiple websites operated by the Lithuanian public sector. The Minister for National Defense, Arvydas Anušauskas, commented, “This [attack] shows huge gaps in the cybersecurity of the public sector.”
Cybersecurity continues to be at the forefront of discussion — especially in the current unstable geopolitical climate. In February 2022, the Lithuanian Central Bank issued warnings of the increased possibility of cyberattacks and power cuts.
“Increased geopolitical tension in the region leads to increased threats of cyberattacks, including attacks on critical information infrastructure,” stated the Bank of Lithuania in its warning.
Emplos and CyCraft are determined to jointly strengthen cyber resilience in the region, helping enterprises face and withstand attacks from active and emerging cyber threats.
Benson Wu, CyCraft Founder and CEO, commented on the new partnership. “Modern cyberattacks are not only sophisticated and persistent but have become part of the arsenal in geopolitical conflicts. CyCraft is MITRE ATT&CK evaluated and has proven its capability to protect hundreds of government agencies, financial institutions, and semiconductor firms. We are excited to form a joint defense with like-minded partners, protecting customers in the Baltics and beyond.”
CyCraft Technology autonomous security products have a proven track record of dealing with cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure linked and/or affiliated with nation-states, including Russia and China. In 2021, CyCraft released a working decryptor for Prometheus ransomware who, at the peak of the activity, targeted multiple critical infrastructure organizations in over 30 different countries in only 4 months. In 2022, CyCraft unveiled a months-long smokescreen supply chain attack targeting Taiwan’s financial sector; evidence uncovered during an incident response investigation ties these attacks to APT10 — a China state-sponsored hacker group widely believed to be associated with the Chinese Intelligence Agency, the Ministry of State Security (MSS), and previously indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice.
CyCraft Managed Detection and Response (MDR) cybersecurity services provide enterprises with continuous digital forensic investigation capabilities. CyCraft customers experiencing a cyberattack ascertain the ground truth to the attack via real-time cyber situation reports, providing a complete attack storyline, root cause analysis, alert triage automation, and malicious domain, IP, URL analysis.
“CyCraft MDR automates investigations and alert verifications, providing SOC teams with the ground truth to an attack faster and more hands-off than existing solutions. Our fast, accurate, simple, thorough AI-driven approach to cybersecurity has led CyCraft to manage millions of endpoints from both government and enterprise customers in over a dozen countries worldwide. Our new strategic partnership combines both industry-leading technology with comprehensive services, helping enterprises raise resilience in the face of growing cyber threats,” Wu emphasized, on Cycraft’s innovative Continuous Digital Forensic Technology.
CyCraft MDR has consistently outperformed competitors in the MITRE Engenuity ATT&CK® evaluations and stands out by being the only vendor to achieve exemplary out-of-the-box detection results with zero configuration changes and zero latency. The latest round of evaluation results simulated attacks by the financially-motivated threat group Wizard Spider and the Russian GRU-affiliated Sandworm Team responsible for the 2015 and 2016 targeting of Ukrainian electrical companies and 2017’s NotPetya attacks.
“Due to the complexity, speed, and sophistication of modern business and modern cyber attackers, 100% prevention is impossible, so organizations have turned to a detection and response framework, which they are finding difficult to fully bring to fruition, so they are further seeking solutions despite the proliferation of in-house focused tools and vendors. Many organizations find that turning to MDR (managed detection and response) is the only solution that gets the results they need to fully address modern cyber threats.”
